Developed by HDMA’s eCommerce Task Force, this electronic data interchange (EDI) set supports the customary and established business and industry practices surrounding sales reporting. The guidelines allow users to send detailed or summary sales reports by customer, product and contract, and it may be used by healthcare distributors to report sales transactions to manufacturers. However, this transaction is not to be used for the reporting of returns from the distributor to the manufacturer. A return from the distributor to the manufacturer is reported via the 180 Return Merchandise Authorization transaction. These guidelines were developed with the application of the Accredited Standards Committee (ASC) X12 standards as they pertain to the Product Transfer and Resale Report transaction.
