HDA Statement on Rx Supply Chain Response to Hurricanes Helene And Milton
October 09, 2024HDA released a statement regarding the pharmaceutical supply chain’s response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton.
“HDA and our pharmaceutical distributor members are deeply saddened about the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene. Building on our industry’s extensive experience navigating hurricanes, pandemics and other disasters as well as our logistics expertise, HDA members have mobilized to provide consistent operations in the wake of this powerful storm, collaborating with federal, state and local officials as well as our supply chain partners to deliver needed medications to the affected communities.
“Further, our members continue to work with pharmacies, hospitals and other sites of care to make sure supplies and products, such as IV fluids, are available — and ultimately, reach patients to maintain continuity of care nationwide.
“As Hurricane Milton rapidly approaches, HDA members are redoubling our response efforts, and, importantly, adjusting individual operations accordingly to prepare for the impact the hurricane may have in Florida while maintaining deliveries across the rest of the country.”
