Americares Honors Lilly with Power of Partnership Award

Americares, in partnership with the Healthcare Distribution Alliance (HDA), presented its annual Power of Partnership Award to Eli Lilly and Company, in recognition of its outstanding commitment to increasing access to health care around the world. Lilly is among Americares most dedicated donors, providing medical products and financial support that saves lives and improves health for people affected by poverty or disaster.
Americares Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer Jenny Goldstein presented the award yesterday at HDA’s Business and Leadership Conference in Colorado Springs, Colo. Americares and HDA created the Power of Partnership Award in 2005 to recognize HDA-member pharmaceutical manufacturer and distribution organizations that have shown exceptional dedication to expanding access to health care for people in need around the globe.
Lilly is among our most dedicated supporters, providing product donations that improve health and save lives,” Goldstein said. “With Lilly’s support, Americares is working to meet some of the world’s most pressing health needs, including management of diabetes and other serious health conditions for people affected by poverty or disaster.
Lilly and Americares have worked together since 1986, with Lilly donating products valued at more than $150 million to Americares to support its partner clinics and community health centers in the U.S., as well as emergency response and recovery efforts worldwide. To date, Americares has delivered Lilly products to Americares partner health facilities in more than 70 countries.
“Lilly is honored to receive this recognition and we are grateful for our longstanding collaboration with Americares to get medicines in the hands of people who need them," said Leigh Ann Pusey, executive vice president of corporate affairs and communications at Lilly. “We look forward to continuing our work together to improve access to quality health care for people around the world.”
Lilly has been donating insulin to Americares for patients in need in the U.S. since 2018. To date, nearly 70 Americares partner health facilities in 33 states and Puerto Rico serving patients in need have benefitted from the donations, which include diabetes medicines. Additionally, Lilly has provided over $1 million in funding for Americares Patient Navigator Program, which helps patients with diabetes better navigate the U.S. health care system and connect to resources that can help them in their journey with diabetes.
